Albrights Canoe Access
River Miles: 9
Counties: Hamilton
Recommended Flow: 100 - 750 cfs

AKA: Cornboy
Skill Level: Intermediate
Date of Paddle: 8/04
CFS: 375
Recommended Craft: Recreational but a
whitewater craft should be used if running/playing around the dams (2 in
Webster City)
Type of Water: Mostly flat with some
class Is and 2 dam areas.
Overview of this section: This section
is where you are likely to find the most people on the Boone, but that
still isn't many. This sections starts a little further upstream than the
popular Riverside Access in Webster City and it adds a opportunity to mess
around with 2 Dam areas. Channel and Flatheads are the predominant species
of fish around Webster City when you hit the Briggs Woods area then
Smallies will be more frequent along with the channel cats.
Hazard and Rapids: There
are small rapids throughout this section. Not too many downed trees to
contend with. There is a rock dam in Webster City just off of White Fox
road to the west where one can either run it (not for the beginner) or
portage around it - it also contains metal sheetpile so be careful of
scraping. The second dam area is about .5 miles downstream of the first
and was used for collecting ice - most of it you can glide right over but
there are a couple chutes on the west side of the river that make things
interesting.
Camping?: There is camping at Webster
City's Riverside Park and Briggs Woods is a full featured campground.
Other Launches?: Riverside
Park in Webster City and Briggs Woods which is a couple miles south of
Webster City.
Places to rent or buy outdoor equipment:
Webster City has: Shoppers Supply, Kmart, and Sports World. No places to
rent.
Other items of interest about this area:
Nothing out of the ordinary.
Overall opinion of this section: Good.
Not my personal favorite section of the Boone but worth the float. P.S. -
there are some really big smallies (close to the 20" range) after
Briggs.
