Boone River
The
Boone River could almost be considered a third fork of the Des Moines
River. It begins north of Highway 18 and is regarded as a fairly typical
northern prairie stream until it begins its descent into the Des Moines
River Valley past Eagle Grove through riffles and a significant rapid.
Past Webster City, the Boone enters a deeper, and quite scenic valley.
This riffle-strewn area is a state-designated Protected Water Area to the
Boone’s mouth, where it slows as it reaches the Des Moines River.
