|
|
It's that time of year; to get in on the UIR Cleanup.
This event is posted & linked @ http://www.iowater.net/Activities/StreamCleanupEvents.htm
See SEPT 26; for the contact & Details.
Also, for those who would like to be active participating "LOGGERS": responsible for tree &/or strainer maintenance. I'm looking; for anyone who would/could aid in improving the the safety of all paddlers, by clearing trees/strainers that are hazardous. Persons who are proficient with working a chainsaw/loppers &/or any means of any other style of power or manual saw; in & around a river, are asked to come forward. The major "Logging" will take place ahead of the regular "Cleanup crew(s)", Sept 26.
Fred & myself; will be scouting & working the smaller "projects" on Sept 25. If anyone, would like to join us in this event, by all means. We'll be arriving @ Chimney Rocks Sept 24 ~ 7:30 PM; to be able to get on the river ~ 9AM, Sept 25.
Then, on Sept 27; for those wanting to have a leisure float, we'll plan on having one. This leisure float on Sept 27; will NOT be sponsored by CHIMNEY ROCKS. So, you'll have to either bring your own boat or rent one. The group consentient; will dictate the outcome of the where/what/ how far this Sept 27 float will be.
Hope, you'll be able to join in on some of this rewarding weekend to come.
PLEASE, advise & make your reservations' request know to Deb Keefe @ Chimney Rocks: Keefe@earthlink.net 563-735-5786.
Questions/ discussions; on anything pertaining to any & all pre/ post Cleanup &/or LOGGING activities, could be directed to myself.
I'll do my best to answer your inquires.
Hope, to see you there/then. _________________ Always run the normally low waterways when they're running. |

anyone know how the new gage @ Bluffton is compared to the origional one?
Seems like this gage is reading higher then the old one.
I talked with Deb Keefe & she said right now kendallville is as far up as you can go, now.
I had bookmarked 3.3' as ample water to float from Harvest Farm down. _________________ Always run the normally low waterways when they're running. |

Unable to get to UIR on 9-24; for 9-25's scouting & logging. All the more reason to have this call out for LOGGERS NEEDED requests; for the Saturday Cleanup.
If anyone would step forward; to assist with clearing of strainers/trees in the river, it would be greatly appreciated. You DO NOT have to operate a chainsaw nor have to own one, just need to be able to aide in the removal of the brush ; that needs to be cut in order to get to the meat of the given trees.
Looking forward to a cleaner river; after we take care of it. _________________ Always run the normally low waterways when they're running. |

Deb already knows that I can't make it this year. I was supposed to have gone up this summer and done some work, but I wasn't able to make it. Please tell her hello for me--I will be there in spirit!!! _________________ Tires...
