Took the Jensen racer (28/29in width) on the DSM (Deception to Skillet) on Sunday. This was the first time out in the boat. It is a tandem boat but I used it solo sitting on a cushion. Borrowed a friends BB Sunrise 220cm paddle to try. For low angle stroke it was too short and if I was not careful I would hit my hands on the gunwale. For a high angle stroke (almost vertical trying to paddle against the Boone river current, only one that made it to the 1st bridge) it worked pretty well but probably could use just a little more length.

With the above info I'm thinking a 240cm paddle would be ideal. It should save my knuckles and still provide a decent high angle stroke. Is this about right or is that too big of jump in length?

Brian
